The Handstand Retreat in Morocco
November 29th to December 6th, 2025

Reconnect with balance in the heart of Morocco.
Join us for a transformative handstand retreat in the Atlas Mountains — a week of movement, mindfulness, and mountain magic. Refine your inversion practice, ground your focus, and rise into stillness.
Where will we be
Escape to the stunning Atlas mountains for a week of creative exploration centered on balance, stillness and concentration.

Panoramic mountain views, dark starry nights, a gorgeous practice room and relaxing pool area will support you to discover the space, both inner and outer, to reconnect with your inversion practice.  There will be a mix of focused & dynamic physical training, yoga, mindfulness activities and exploring the surrounding areas to experience the magic of Morocco.

The venue, Irocha, is an eco-style resort built using Amazigh (Berber) architecture and means “rock” in the local language.   We’ll be three hours south of Marrakech on the southern slope of the Atlas mountains in the village of Tisselday.
What to Expect
This week is about more than handstands — although we’ll do plenty of those. It’s about developing real concentration, building a sustainable and mindful approach to your inversion training, and immersing yourself in an environment that sparks curiosity, joy, and personal growth.
You’ll explore handstand technique, yoga, breathwork and meditation.  Everything we offer is designed to help you unlock new layers of both physical and mental awareness which will support you in your practice and daily life.

Whether you’re beginning to kick your feet into the air or refining your press to handstand, this retreat is open to everyone who has prior experience attempting handstands and going upside down in life.

Jacob Handwerker

I’ve always enjoyed movement, connection and exploration.
In 2007 I discovered AcroYoga and my life took a completely new direction.

At age 31 I didn't know how to do a cartwheel or handstand. Discovering new ways to move and building the confidence to push my edges was empowering and healing. AcroYoga and handstands opened me up to a whole new world of possibilities.

I love working with people to help them discover things they never imagined possible. Over the past two decades, Ashtanga Yoga, AcroYoga and Vipassana meditation have been anchor points in my life. I look forward to sharing the insights and wisdom I've gained from these practices with you.

In 2013 I founded the NW AcroYoga Camp-Out in America which brings AcroYogis together each summer in both Oregon and Washington states. I also run Ashtanga Lanka which hosts yoga retreats around the world.
